These boots are a Stalag-made item, crafted by prisoners of war during the Second World War. Due to severe material shortages inside the camps, footwear was often produced using wooden soles and whatever leather, fabric, or metal could be salvaged. Such items were worn as replacements for worn-out boots or traded within the internal camp economy.
This pair is in unused condition, which is exceptionally rare for a POW-made item and makes it a remarkable piece of wartime prisoner craftsmanship and daily life.
